ART CLASSES
If you’re new to painting, or you’re continuing your artistic journey with painting in watercolors or acrylics, join Barbie to learn to paint using your favorite photos of landscapes, flowers, fruits, vegetables, animals, glass and more as references. Barbie will do a short demo each week explaining how to use supplies, ways to plan a painting on paper or canvas or other panels, and the use of elements of design to achieve various effects with values, textures, color mixtures, shapes, lighting and more. Time will be given to each student to help them reach their individual goals. You may bring a drink and a snack lunch.

If you’ve NEVER painted, or even if you’ve had A FEW classes, this class is FOR YOU. Each week, Barbie will demonstrate and simplify how to use various techniques and supplies for starting your own paintings on Canvas, Wood, or Panels. Acrylic paint options such as Heavy Body or Fluid Acrylics, and Acrylic Mediums will be discussed. And, she will talk about how to compose a painting using your own photos including how to mix colors and create values, how to create a focal point, and how to create textures. Ways to paint Landscapes, Flowers and do Collages will be demonstrated. And, instruction will be given pertaining to your individual painting needs. Bring your photo samples or paint along with Barbie using her photo references. You may bring drinks and snacks to this class.

In this 2 day class, beginning students new to working with acrylic paint will learn the basics of painting with this fast drying medium. You will learn to properly use brushes, develop a color palette and problem solve for composition. Students will also learn methods to put their images onto paper, canvas and board. Each class begins with a teacher demo followed by individual instruction to each student based on their own painting goals

Using a series of tried and true exercises, you will build your confidence in drawing by lunch. Drawing is a visual illusion and the principals equally apply to painting. In the morning, you will complete a series of warm up exercises in pencil that will improve the way you draw. In the afternoon, you will work on a series of portraits experimenting with a variety of pencils, charcoal acrylic paint and papers to explore new methods of creating loose portrait work in paint.
